In this piece of art I have decided to portray one of the biggest tragedies that have ever occurred in South Korea. The main focus of this painting is the ferry which is moving towards the bright sunset, foreshadowing the inevitable death of hundreds of young students. The yellow color around the sun represents hope for the few survivors. As the ferry travels, other citizens (that are shown in the bottom right end of the painting) are living their regular lives, unaware of what was about to come. Yellow ribbons in the sky are also a symbol of hope as well as a reminder to all Korean citizens that this tragedy should never happen again.
